All pets
are up to date with routine shots, have dentals if needed and are already house and crate trained unless otherwise
stated. No pets will be available for adoption until they are spayed or neutered. Please read
our Home page, it will answer most of your questions.
If you are interested in one
of our Shelties, please fill out and include an Adoption Application. It will help us to know which of our dogs will fit your family and life style. Many
of our dogs are not placed on the available page or are adopted within a day of being on the available page because we have
the perfect home approved and waiting.
We require a fenced area
for our Shelties to run and exercise in! See our home page for just a few of the reasons we do not approve buried
electronic fencing.
If there is a notation under the dog's name
that says "***Adoption Pending***" the dog is on a two week trial at a new home. If the trial doesn't
work out our webmaster will remove that notice ASAP. If you are interested in a dog that is adoption pending please
wait for that to change before inquiring about the dog.

Sadie
Sadie is a gorgeous 2 year old sable merle sheltie.
She is still very much a puppy and is a very active little girl. We think Sadie is a good performance prospect and would
love to learn agility or obedience. Sadie loves to play with adults, children, and other dogs. She does tend to play a little
rough and can make a pest of herself at times, but with patience, a lot of love, and obedience training, she will be
a wonderful companion sheltie. She's doing very well with her leash training. Sadie always wants to be in your
lap or at least touching you when she sleeps. This little girl desperately wants to find that special person or family to
love and make their home her forever home.
If you can make Sadie's dreams come true, please contact Gail at
gail@sheltierescueetn.com
UPDATE 11-11-09: Sadie has been tested
with sheep and shows great interest in herding but would love agility, obedience, fly ball or any of the performance or competition
activities. Her long legs and speed make her a natural. If you are looking for a dog
to perform and compete with Sadie is your girl! She's a diamond just waiting to for the right person to help her sparkle.

Koda/Kona **On Hold For Training**
Koda was turned out by his former owner after being hit by a
car. When a neighbor tried to return him, his owner refused to take him back so he was taken to a vet who
in turn called rescue. He had to have surgery to repair a broken leg but his vet says he will be as good
as new in a couple of months. He is a beautiful shaded sable and white boy. Koda’s
large for a Sheltie at about 21 inches tall and a bit thin at 36 lbs but at 3 years old he is fully grown. His
size just means there is more of him to love.
Koda is a very loving boy that has never met a stranger.
His loving nature and good humor has been apparent even when in severe pain. He loves interacting
with his foster family and really wants to play but that will have to wait until his vet says his leg is healed. He
isn't neutered yet but will be as soon as possible and before being adopted.
We’ll
add updates as he progresses so come back and check on him often. Koda is being fostered in the Lenoir City area. Contact Brenda at brenda@sheltierescueetn.com for more information on him.
UPDATE 01-27-2010: Hi, Koda/Kona here. I’m crated at all times while my leg heals, except
to be leash-walked on a 4 ft. lead to be pottied. Therefore foster mom only gets little glimpses of who
I am. But she says I should tell you some things about me that she thinks should help find my perfect home. I love every person
I meet. I love toys and visit the toy box every chance I get. I’m gentle
with the toys and just like to carry something in my mouth between the crate and the door. Given a chance and if allowed
to I would gladly chase anything that runs...Anything! But my love for people doesn't necessarily extend
to other dogs; foster mom says it may be because I haven’t been neutered yet. That may change when
my hormones have a chance to subside. Well, that’s what I heard foster mom say but I don’t
even know what a “neuter” or a “hormone” is. Foster mom says I don’t need
to know but I’m a smart and curious boy soooo; anyone out there want to explain that to me? Anyway, for now I have a
tendency to guard my space. It seems I have “NO manners”. I’m
not sure what “manners” are either but it sounded important so I'm just letting you know. Foster
mom says I’m very bright. She says I am the brightest dog that she has ever fostered. I
learn things- good and bad- in a heartbeat. When I’m better and able to be out of my crate, I will
be going with foster mom for some training and again I don’t know what that is, but foster mom says “the sooner,
the better” so I guess it’s important too.
A Note from Koda’s/Kona’s
foster mom: This is a dog born to be in competition. He could be in the top
ten in competition nation-wide in any dog sport that you could name, except for conformation. Koda/Kona
would not be a good companion for a retired couple who just want a dog to walk with. Exercise alone will not be enough
him; Koda/Kona needs a job that involves his mind as well as his body.
Now that Koda/Kona is no longer restricted
to his crate his foster mom has discovered that he's scared of other dogs and small children he will have to be adopted
to a home with no other pets and no young children.
UPDATE 4-18-2010: Hi again! I'm
doing much better and am allowed more freedom and activity now. But foster mom says I'm not quite ready
to go to my forever home just yet. She wants to make sure my leg is in top notch condition so I don't have to worry
about getting another boo-boo. Speaking of boo-boos...I was neutered and boy do I wish someone had explained that
to me! I would have tried to talk foster mom out of it if I had known what was going to happen! Too late now though.
I'm learning more "manners" and "commands" and plan to be the best boy in my foster home real soon. Foster
mom says I'm very smart. I'd be really proud of that if I knew what it meant. Thanks for checking
in on me and come back soon. Koda/Kona

Frost ***ON HOLD***
Frost, is a beautiful Bi-Blue boy with one
blue eye. He's 21.6 lbs and 3 years old. Unfortunately Frost came in to
rescue Heartworm positive and on is medical hold for now but he's doing very well. We won't
have a good idea of his personality until he's off of his medical restriction but we already know he's a bit shy.
We'll tell you how Frost is doing and more about his personality as he progresses.
UPDATE 8-15-2010: Frost
is off of medical hold now and doing very well. He's shy and will need a family with the time to help him adjust
to a new home but he's a wonderful little guy and well worth the time and effort! Frost seemed to be cat aggressive
but is now in a foster home with cats and is doing fine. He's also in a foster home with a young child and
is doing great with her also. We've moved Frost around a bit so he can learn to trust as many people as possible
and he is becoming less shy almost daily.
Frost is
being fostered in the Tri Cities area. For
more information contact Brenda at: brenda@sheltierescueetn.com Please send an Adoption Application with your inquiry. Frost requires a fenced area to run and play in. No exception will be made.
